Description:
The Spyderco Para Military 2 Compression Lock folder has become one of the world's most popular pocket knives. The design, ergonomics, and high performance materials make this folder a "go-to" every day carry folder choice for many users. This version of the PM2 comes with textured Dark Gray G-10 handle scales and a high performance Maxamet steel blade with Stonewashed finish.
Brand new, direct from the Spyderco factory in Golden, CO, USA, Earth.
Blade: A classic, long tumbled clip point with sweeping belly, the ParaMilitary 2 blade shape lends itself to both piercing and slicing tasks of all shapes and sizes. The blade is made from Maxamet, a high speed tool steel that is typically used in the rollers used to produce steel. This is a very tough and highly wear resistant steel that offers some of the highest edge retention available on the market. Due to the nature of this steel it retains a high level of toughness but is not stainless so care will be required to prevent corrosion. This steel is also more challenging to sharpen due to the high level of wear resistance that allows it to retain its edge for so long. The over-sized Spyderco Round Hole™ allows for easy ambidextrous opening even while wearing gloves.
Handle: The scales are made from textured Dark Gray G10, an industrial fiber glass composite laminate, which is tough, lightweight and nearly impervious to decomposition and moisture. The scales are attached to nested and skeletonized stainless steel liners which help to reduce weight while maintaining a high level of strength. One liner forms the high strength Compression Lock mechanism which is easy to operate with either hand and has an exceptional strength to weight ratio. The Para Military 2 carries via the classic, stainless steel, Spyderco 4-Position "Hour Glass" pocket clip which makes this knife fully ambidextrous.
Maxamet Steel: Super hard high-speed tool steel produced by the powder metallurgy process originally for use in rollers at the state-of-the-art Carpenter Technology rolling mills. Maxamet is hard and tough enough to meet the demands of rolling and shaping hot steel. Spyderco was one of the only companies to successfully machine, heat treat and grind this advanced alloy for use in high-performance knife blades. Cutting performance, toughness and edge retention are off the charts.
