This is my second of these bags, the first last over 10 years and still had some life in it when I retired it. I don't use it for firearms but for my u-lock for my bicycle and it functions great! This bag keeps everything I need close at hand and is SUPER durable.

I bought this mostly to carry my iPad. As a bonus it can carry a bunch of other stuff including water and some granola bars. I bring this when I go downtown, sometimes I stuff a light long sleeve shirt in there in case it gets cold. The buckle on the main strap is great for when I’m wearing a motorcycle helmet, I can quickly detach the strap to take it on or off or to just change the position/orientation of the strap. It works great when on a motorcycle, I have it adjusted so it rests on the seat behind me and takes the weight off of my shoulder. It’s a great bag and worked exactly as I expected. I own and have owned dozens of maxpedition products in the past so I pretty much knew exactly what I was getting. I’m looking at the bag now to see what else I can add. Oh it fits a tall 40 oz stainless kleen canteen with a stainless cup on the bottom. Also holds 32 oz nalgene and a double insulated vacuum (can’t remember the brand) this was the most important thing for me. Of course the bottle pouch holds anything much smaller than a nalgene as well. I think this is great for boating too, holds all the legal stuff for boating, flares/flare pistol, registration and a handheld vhf fit nicely inside. This is great for day trips. However I wouldn’t use it if you’re going too far on a bicycle as the bag will have a tendency to swing and throw off your balance and chafe your shoulder. In that case I use my pigmy falcon backpack.

So using words like 'AWESOME' is usually something I don't do. But I will in this case.

Everything about this bag is great. The craftsmanship, the material, the design, the comfort, the look.

I keep my Dayplanner notebook + IPad Mini in the main compartment. The drink holder is used to store 3-4 Clif bars. The smaller pouch on the front carries my wallet & extra odds & ends. Side zip up pouch carries my business card holder & the front pouch on the flap is the perfect place to stuff my keys & receipts that I can sort through later. The top compartment on the top of the flap is the only downside. Its zipper is placed facing the inside, and makes opening that compartment a little funky. But it's workable. I keep all of my electronics chargers, charging cables, and a small Buck folding knife in there.

The Conceal Carry slot is pretty sweet. I generally carry my Schrade SCHF 10 (in sheath) in that pocket, although it fits my Springfield XD .40 subcompact perfectly with room to spare. (I recommend the holster that velcros in to the wall of the compartment).

Strap is comfortable, and I'll either just throw it over my shoulder or carry it by the handle.

It's just so well designed, bulletproof, and fabric cleans easily.

I'd buy it again. Without question a beautiful piece of gear.

Well I must say I'm going to be a maxpedition buyer for a long time. Because they are simplistic enough that they are practical and well designed, with material that have basically bombproof durability. That being said this pack is small enough to be a good EDC and concealed carry bag. I must say getting to the main compartment is a bit akward but you get used to it. Another problem is the main compartment is hard to see your stuff. So for the main compartments I think that Maxpedition should put a more bright interior color for easier gear searching. I love the waist strap it makes this bag worth every dollar, it holds it in place for running. takes a ton of weight of your shoulders and makes this pack comfortable even with a 10 pound bag load. It is more comfortable with it spun to your back.

My first one lasted 3 years before a leatherman and knife made a small hole in the side pocket. Decided to buy a new setup to use and keep the first as a backup. Looks like they made some improvements!! New shoulder strap seems to have more padding. The strap seems a little thicker. The quick pull loops look like they are a hair longer than the first one I had. I add the Janus pouch for frequent access item (phone, magazines), and their 5x7 modular pack for other items mounts to the bottom of the pack with the Grimlock's or TacTile straps. These bags take daily abuse!! On trips I pack this as my "personal bag" for flying. You can fit a lot in even this size. I'll carry my iPhone, extra battery pack for the phone, a GPS in a hardshell case and that only is a couple of pockets! Cram your other gear into the main pocket and CCW area of the bag. Side pocket works great for water bottles or other gear (umbrella, sunglasses, rain gear). OUTSTANDING customer service if you ever have to call them up.

UPDATE: Noticed something after I set up the new bag. The shoulder strap is substantially shorter than my older model. It looks like a good foot or so shorter. Otherwise mounting the accessory bags and TacTies on the body and strap went easy.

Totally incredible quality. Unbelievably useful and a good size so the you don't load it up to 80 lbs. yes it is a holster but that is not what I use it for. I'm sure if you live where you are allowed to carry it would be incredible but not in Canada. I struggle to keep packs light but this is great for a day pack sightseeing etc. I love this bag and yes ok it is my handbag but it is so convenient. Even has a home for my nalgene steel water bottle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vielseitige, perfekte Top-Qualität
Reviewed in Germany on January 27, 2015

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this bag
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 9, 2014
I love my Maxpedition bag. Tough, functional and looks good. I get complements on it all the time. The webbing allows it to be accessorized with other pouches, which I have done. The temptation to do this can cause the price of your bag to balloon alarmingly. By the time I had added an M1 Waistpack, as well as Janus, Anenome and Barnacle pouches, the total cost of my bag had snowballed to around £170. But on the other hand I now have a bag that is likely unique, For all I know there is no other Jumbo Versipack in the world customised like mine, and that has a certain appeal. A word of warning though, Blackhawk speed clips are far superior to Maxpedition Tac Ties for attaching accessories.

It is also important to have realistic expectations. While wearing my bag in *VERY* heavy rain, I found that the front zippered, side and top pockets did soak through allowing their contents to get wet. The main pouch with its rain skirt remained bone dry inside, as did the "concealed carry" pouch and the front pouch under the main flap. One of the good things about this bag for outdoors use is it can be worn under a rain poncho and accessed without needing to take the poncho off.

Also have realistic ideas about the size. I found that it is strictly a little small for my 12" TF300 transformer tablet, although by loosening the buckle straps I can get it inside the main pouch. It does stick up a bit when I do this.

Maxpedition gear is very expensive. And once you start customising, it can be hard to stop. This is a lethal combination.

They are however very good bags. This wont be my last. I'm planning on buying a Monsoon gearslinger in the future - oh and to that end I'll make one last suggestion. If you plan on accessorizing, pick a colour you like to begin with. That way accessory pouches can be moved between bags if you ever buy another.
