From the manufacturer

Zero Tolerance

A Cut Above the Rest

From fierce combat knives to lightweight EDCs, Zero Tolerance consistently dedicates the iconic brand to offering premium-quality, professional, hard-use knives consumers can depend on. Zero Tolerance knives are manufactured with premium blade steels, high quality handle materials, and dependable locking and opening systems.

Zero Tolerance

Kershaw Hinderer Knives

Signature to a classic Hinderer design, Rick Hinderer uses a lockbar stabilizer in many of his designs. Hinderer claims fame over his Hinderer-style filler tabs among many other technologies and collaborations in Kershaw’s knife lines. Famous for the Kershaw Cryo, Hinderer designs unique and powerful knives built tough and built to last.

Hinderer Features

knife blades, blade coating, blade finish, kershaw blades, kershaw blade features, knife coating

Attractive Blade Finish

Kershaw’s Blackwash finish derives from a balanced blend of blade coating and stonewashing. Together the two produce a precisely formulated all-black matte finish impervious to fingerprints, smudges and marring. And, even though the knife itself is brand new, Blackwash projects a well-worn, vintage look popular for blending comfortably with clothes and gear during everyday use and carry.

Fast Deployment

Using “caged” ball bearings for smooth blade deployment and overcoming stronger knife detent, the KVT Ball-Bearing Opening System makes one-handed knife opening fast and easy without the need of a mechanical assist. Ball-bearings surround and freely rotate around the pivot. When the user pulls back on the flipper, the blade rotates out of the handle as the ball bearings roll into place.

Secure Locking System

Kershaw’s frame lock design makes knives safer, securer, sturdier and quicker for one-handed blade deployment. The knife handle, or frame, has two metal plates on either side of the blade, and when open, the lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent blade closure. To close the knife blade, push the frame to the side to unlock the blade and fold the blade back into the handle.

Additional Features

Manual Flipper

Flippers on manual-open knives require user to push with quick strength until blade deploys. Some manual flippers disappear when blade deploys, others become a finger guard. Manual flippers appeal to inexperienced users as well as experienced users who prefer a classic, old-style opening. In both cases, ambidextrous flipper works as index finger applies pressure while closed knife sits in palm.

Durable Handle

A reinforced polymer of thin strands of carbon tightly woven, carbon fiber is tremendously strong yet lightweight. Strong weaves of bonded carbon atoms are used to compose carbon fiber in both Kershaw high-end knife handles and Zero Tolerance premium materials. With solid strength, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, carbon fiber is an excellent, high-performing, high-quality knife handle. Titanium is a lightweight metal alloy and it offers excellent corrosion resistance. Heavier than aluminum but still lightweight and strong, titanium is a very sturdy material often used in knife handles, locking liners, or as a blade coating to enhance performance. Titanium is a sleek, stylish, premium material that’s excellent for the ideal everyday carry.

Convenient Pocketclip

Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. The 4-position pocketclip allows tip-up or tip-down carry on both the right and left sides, providing users the most versatility. Proper use of the pocketclip promotes safety and efficiency while using knife.

The media could not be loaded.
I love Zero Tolerance knives, but despite owning a couple dozen different models of them, I'd always held off buying an 0562 because, well...I already own a Hinderer XM, and a few versions of the Hinderer designed 0393. So the 0562 had always felt a little redundant. But knife prices have gone up (again) this year, so when Amazon had them at >$220, I decided to pick one up, as a collection piece if nothing else. To my superise, however, I find that I actually like the 0562 better even than my XM. The 0562 is big but not unwieldy, very lightweight given that the frame is all titanium; the handle is perfectly sized for my slightly larger than average hands, and the choils lock in one of the most solid, controlled, and comfortable grips I've ever felt on a knife. The blade has a signature Hinderer slicer grind, which isn't quite as cool looking as, say, the spanto grind of an 0393, but is much more utilitarian. All of this adds up to a knife that is built to work, and to be comfortable doing so. Oh, and the build quality is perfect, of course [see video]. I've never seen a ZT that wasn't, and I suspect anyone who receives one that isn't has seller trying to pass off either a clone or a refurbished model (I knew the 0804 a seller sent me wasn't legit when a magnet stuck to the "titanium" frame). Either that or they're squeezing the frame lock when they try to flip the blade open [see another reviewers video].

Overall, the 0562 might very be the most comfortable, useful, and well-designed knives in ZT's current line-up. The design is pretty simple, but that's the Hinderer signature, and that's what makes his designs great--nothing superfluous. And considering that you can pick up the 0562 for about half the price of the cheapest XM, this might very well qualify as the best Hinderer knife too.

  • Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2017
    Size: 3.8"Pattern Name: KnifeVerified Purchase
I've always been a fan of Spyderco and Benchmade knives for different reasons, but the quality of this knife is unmatched in my collection. I really don't like smaller knives, as I use my knives for demanding work. 4" is typically my preference, with 3.75" being something I can tolerate(much of this has to do with handle length, because I wear gloves half the time). I was worried 3.5" may be too small, but this is an exception. Lockup is solid, and the fit and finish is excellent. I am a machinist/welder, so I notice the nitpicky things that most people don't. My Spyderco Military was nowhere near as nice out of the box(blade was horribly off center and the bevel looked like stevie wonder sharpened it). The edge on this blade came very sharp. It's super quick to get out and put away(with either hand for you lefties). The pocket clip allows it to disappear in your pocket. I opted for the carbon fiber version, and it was worth the extra money. I really can't say how much I love this knife. The detent is pretty strong, but I don't consider that a negative. Everything seems extremely well thought out. Ergonomically, this is perfection in my book. I'm a little concerned about how tough this may be to sharpen using my edge pro, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I'll also have to wait and see if the pivot comes loose. I suspect that it's not an issue unless you take it apart and put it back together without using locktite. We'll see. For the time being though, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

EDIT: After a few weeks of carrying this daily, I have a few things to add, none of which are surprising. The action is still solid and a bit smoother(it was already buttery out of the box). With wet hands, the grip is a bit slippery, but that is to be expected from such a smooth finish on titanium. The blade is also not the best slicer, which is also to be expected for obvious reasons. The blade itself is scratched up, but I haven't had any chips. The steel holds a very nice edge, and it seems to last a long time. I decided to re-profile the edge to my liking, and I couldn't really tell the difference between this and s30v in terms of time to sharpen. I'm not saying it isn't better than s30v, but it's not noticeably more difficult to sharpen than s30v. I used an edge pro apex up to 3000 grit and a strop. It was a bit tricky, because this blade doesn't have much surface area to rest the blade without accidental tilting. I was mindful of this when I bought it, but it turned out not to be a big deal at all. I checked the pivot when new, and it's still just as tight as when I checked. It may loosen up over time, but it doesn't seem to be a problem so far. Overall, I'm still blown away by this blade. There aren't any bad surprises. Fit and finish is remarkable for the price point.

    WOW!
The "perfect" folding knife has never been manufactured, yet this ZT 0562CF comes pretty close. Those of you who like your EDC at 3 oz. and 3" or less should look elsewhere. For everyone else, look no further. Quite possibly the best EDC knife ever produced for the price.
Hinderer has taken the best qualities from the 0560 and 0550 and melded them into a more user-friendly carry-friendly daily use knife that is a Home Run. The blade steel is upgraded to M390 with a "slicer" grind which is more adept at the daily cutting tasks required of an EDC. I like my EDC to be at least capable of serving in a self defense situation. This knife, although not a tactical design, is certainly large enough and stout enough for defensive use if needed. The design is not tactical in 2 ways: the aforementioned blade design and the relative paucity of jimping and grippiness on the handle. Both of these qualities however make the knife better for everyday use. The handle is supremely comfortable and just melts into the palm. At first touch the carbon fiber feels slippery but with the subtle finger grooves and the choil/flipper/finger guard the knife locks into your grip yet with no hot spots. A mastery of design.
The blade action out of the box with no adjustment is as smooth as it gets. The blade moves so smoothly on the pivot it feels like it is floating on air. Even so the detent keeps the blade firmly and safely in the handle when closed. The weight at 5.5 oz. may be too heavy for some for EDC but the knife is so well balanced it feels much lighter in hand.
A+ for fit and finish, ergonomics, balance, lockup, detent, M390 steel, beautiful carbon fiber, 3.5" blade, deep carry clip and smooth flipper function. The only thing I would change is to give the pocket clip a stonewash finish (instead of black paint) similar to the titanium frame to better resist scratches.
    Close to perfect.
