Total Game Management

The respected authenticity of the Moultrie brand was just beginning when a hunter named Dan Moultrie pioneered the game management category over 35 years ago. Today, Moultrie is one of the best-selling brands of game cameras and feeders in the world, and it continues to innovate with new technology that hunters rely on. Defined by the foundations of reliability and ease of use, Moultrie products are always field-tested and designed for hunters, by hunters themselves. Combining forward-thinking innovation with time-tested practicality.

Moultrie M-50 Game Camera

Feature-loaded reliability

The M-Series emphasis on high performance, superior image quality, and advanced features continues with the Moultrie M-50. Despite its compact dimensions, this game camera comes with some big numbers. For starters, there’s 20-megapixel resolution to ensure every image is the ultimate in sharpness and detail. The Long-Range Nighttime Infrared flash reaches all the way out to an honest 100 feet, providing more than enough flash at even the extreme end of its 80 foot detection range. While 19,000 is the number of images you’ll get with a set of batteries. And in video mode the M-50 is capable of HD quality with 1080p resolution that includes audio. But where smaller numbers matter, the M-50 owns those, too. Like a trigger speed of just .3 seconds. And an amazingly modest price—given that it also has our Illumi-Night 2 Sensor for the brightest and clearest nighttime images possible. The M-50 is also Moultrie Mobile compatible, which could add a whole new dimension of convenience to your scouting.

Long-Range Infrared LED

Low glow illumination, like Moultrie’s Long-Range Infrared LED, is very good at capturing images without alerting game. Animals can only detect the flash if they are looking directly at the camera at the moment of illumination.

Video with audio

If you want the ultimate experience from your game camera, then select a model with audio. Most Moultrie models now include audio with their video playback.

Quality images day and night

It’s one thing for a game camera to produce quality images in the daytime. It’s a completely different matter to do it at night. It takes advances like Moultrie’s Infrared LED technology and Illumi-Night Sensor to produce the clearest nighttime images possible. Because of advances like these, Moultrie trail cameras have a reputation for performing equally well day or night.

Moultrie Mobile

This Moultrie game camera is Moultrie Mobile compatible. That means you can view the very latest images captured on your camera from the comfort of your home or the convenience of your smartphone. And that means no more trips to the game camera just to pull the SD cards and download images.

Trigger Speed

One of the key measures of trail camera performance is trigger speed. Generally speaking, a faster trigger speed means there’s less chance of missing the animal. But field of view is also a factor since a really fast trigger speed could take a picture before the animal is fully in view. Moultrie designs its cameras to strike a balance between trigger speed and field of view to provide the best images possible.

Detection range and flash range

A game camera can have a long detection range and it won’t matter if the flash can’t reach that distance. Moultrie always offers illumination capabilities that match or exceed the camera’s detection distance.

Solar power capable

Adding a Moultrie Camera Power Panel to your Moultrie game camera can reduce or eliminate the need to replace batteries. Power panel has a built-in 12-volt battery and works on Moultrie cameras made in 2007 and later.

Easy battery replacement

Moultrie cameras are designed for long battery life and use readily available AA batteries. Convenient loading tray makes replacement simple.

Pretty good camera
Everything works pretty well for me. I however can not get the temperature to read correctly on any pics. Flash is not bright nor noticeable, I went the wrong way to my blind one morning and never knew the camera took a picture of me. Straps are good, battery seems to drain a little faster than I want. I anticipate changing the battery's 3-4 times a year.

I have a total of 15 game cameras in the field right now. 12 of them are various versions from Browning, and three are Moultrie M-50i. While the Moultrie setup is slightly different from Browning cameras, it is not that complicated, and once you get used to it, it actually works OK.

To compare these cameras with Browning, its pretty simple. If you need a fast trigger a great detection range, these Moultrie cameras win hands down. Maybe the pictures from this camera are not as nice as the pics from Browning, but I rather have a picture than no picture.

And don't let me even started on video speed. The Browning cameras take great and clear videos but are very slow to start recording and it takes several seconds to get rolling. I even called Browning about it and they were blaming the angle.

I get everything from elk and deer to mountain lions and wolves, and so far I have been very impressed with these cameras, and while I'm planning on keeping the Browning cams, all my future purchases may be from Moultrie just because of the detection range and trigger speed. (unless Browning will improve in that area).

Additionally, the Browning's standard red flash cameras are spooking animals like crazy, and unless you buy the DarkOps versions (black flash) from Browning, the Moultrie 50i is a better choice as well.

Bottom line:
If you need fancy pictures and the detection range is not important to you, buy Browning. If the detection range and the fast trigger is more important, get these Moultrie M50-i.

Tip: Always use Lithium Batteries and cheap (slow) memory cards. Supposedly, neither Browning nor Moultrie like fast memory cards but I swap the different cards and different speeds and see no difference. Battery life is comparable with both brands and lithium Energizer batteries last forever.

Disclosure: I'm not affiliated with any trail camera brand, and I paid a full retail price for all cameras that I own.

This is our 2nd camera and so far it works great. We get really great day time pics and night time pics. We are trying to see what animal is leaving crazy tracks on our property. So far we just have cows and horses and a bunny and some birds, but after reading some of the reviewers saying they had a bunch of pics of nothing, this happened to us one time and we finally figured it was really windy and it was blowing things in front of the camera, we could see it as we scrolled quickly through the pictures. No biggie, we have several sd cards we change out and batteries have lasted long time, works great! Also I know you can change the sensitivity. But this camera is 5 stars and back to buy another game camera, may try another brand to compare but so far we love our Moultrie M50i :)

I upgraded from an earlier Moultrie camera to the M-50i to get better resolution and a faster trigger, which this camera does provide. The instructions are terrible, but I had the benefit of experience with the earlier model; however, the camera did not operate as programmed. I wanted motion detection video from 11p to 8a and time lapse photos the rest of the time. Instead, it ran both from the time I set up the camera until a random stop time less than 12 hours later even though there was still battery and memory capacity. I confirmed that my programming was correct with customer service, which was unknowledgeable, unresponsive, and unconcerned with my satisfaction. I was promised a prepaid shipping label, which never arrived after two calls and two days, and the only commitment was that they "would look at the camera". I am returning the camera for a refund through Amazon and will buy a different brand.

The product arrived well packaged in new condition. I have two other Moultrie cameras of different models and vintages. I expected more from this newer model. I used all the cameras I have in the video modes. Usually 15 sec capture, 5 sec wait. This camera takes very good daytime videos. Night time videos are foggy at times and do flicker often. The range sensitivity setting at its highest, also varies, even though I use an external 12 volt, 8 AHR backup battery along with 8 AA rechargeables.

I love Moultrie cameras. I have bought several, and I have never had a issue what so ever out of the cameras until.... today. I purchased two of these cameras one of which wouldn’t power on right out of the box. The other never give me a issue. I’m a stickler for instructions, and have never had a issue out of the cameras before by doing so. I believe they are great cameras. I also believe that I just happen to get a defective one. Don’t let this discourage you from purchasing this product. You get what you pay for! Sometimes you just got to send it back for a new one.

I use these for animal watching but also for driveway security. They take thousands of photos a week and I have only changed the batteries once in a year. I do use lithium batteries which cost a little more but last so long it is worth it. The photos are very clear as I have it set on the highest resolution.

I have 2 of the M-50s and use Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA Batteries with high speed 32gb SD cards. Still on my first set batteries after several thousand pictures. Easy to set up. Range and speed close to stated specs - really good pictures. I like it when the deer look at the camera flash - does not scare them.

Bought this on January 20, 2020.
First off, don't find it overly easy to set up!
But had it out in 2 locations over the last 8 months!
It worked up till about 2 months ago. I noticed a little water inside. But it appeared to still be working.
Check this weekend, nothing on the card, and batteries seemed almost dead.
Replaced them, turned it on, was checking the settings and the camera powered off!
And now will not restart!
