Easy to Use and Good Photos
We bought these cameras for citizen science projects in association with our naturalist program. They're lightweight, easy to set up and take great photos. First we tested them in an urban setting and placed them in an area where they got sprayed by a sprinkler system (to test their waterproof feature and to see if they could photograph through water drops on the lenses.) The cameras performed very well. The night vision feature seems to work well, too, but you have to keep in mind that photos taken in the dark are black-and-white, not full color. The only things we didn't like were: (1) the cameras take a MICRO scan disk, not a standard one, and those tiny things are difficult to handle in the field. But we were able to get adaptors (so we can pull images from the disks and save them to our server) without any problems. (2) The lashing strap is kind of a pain if you're setting the camera up by yourself, but that was a minor inconvenience. (We also bought heavy cables to secure the cameras to deter theft. The strap that comes with them isn't as sturdy as the cables.) Overall, we think this was a good investment, and we're looking forward to seeing what critters the cameras can capture in the field.

The camera is well built and fairly rugged. It has a tripod screw support to fit most standard tripods. It also comes with a strap and mounting bracket for just about any situation.

With three motion sensors in front, it captures motion from the sides and center. I noticed that the motion sensors did not always capture small animals below the camera. This seemed to be variable with the size and speed at which the animal moved through the picture.

The picture quality was a little grainy and missing some detail for daytime shots at the highest resolution. The night time shots almost seemed clearer but still had a grainy appearance. The night vision was well lit with the IR illumination. Overall, the quality was completely acceptable.

The one flaw I would point out is that the camera seemed to suffer from some lag between the time it detected motion and the time it started recording. As an example, if an animal moved through the frame at a normal walking pace, the video would start in the middle of the animal's motion. I never saw an animal actually move into the frame from outside the view. This seems like it could be improved.

While the motion detection could be improved, for it's purpose, this is a decent trail camera with acceptable image quality. At this price point, it certainly fits the bill for a good value for the package you get.

Although the daytime pictures are good, the night vision does not pick up anything beyond 15 to 20 feet. For hogs, this camera serves very little purpose since night pictures are so poor. So I have to give this a 1 star.

I am so happy with my purchase. Much better than the Spy Point which died on me and didn't come close to the options this camera has. Easy to set up. I especially like the fact that I can leave the camera outside and set it to go off and on at any given time. We have animals entering our fenced garden at night and cannot figure out how they are getting in. Have programmed the camera to go on 10 pm and off at 6 am. Captured the culprits (a fox and 5 raccoons). Videos are clear. A well made camera. Has audio recording which I think is a nice option. Seems to have a good battery life too. So far, so good.

Used the camera since the 1st of October.....results are good..... it is sturdy..... set up is easy and it has a lot of options during set up...… the motion sensors are very sensitive even on the lowest setting....night vision is good...daytime is very good..... ONLY issue I have with it is the fact that it is difficult to get the SD card out once you have released it from the camera...… almost need a pair of tweezers to remove it...…. I did what they asked me to do in order to get a lifetime warranty ….. hope I don't need I but we will see....if things change during my use of it I'll amend the review....
Would like to suggest that you attach forceps to the tree or to the camera itself.....it is very difficult to get the sd card out without some help..... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it....

I received my Distianert Trail Camera with in two days. It was so very easy to set up and choose my settings for what I want the camera to video. We set it up last evening and in the Morning I had 86 photo shots which also included video. It showed all the deer that come to my feeding station, raccoons, rabbits and other small creatures. I am waiting for the Bob Cat to show up. Video and Pictures were pretty clear and you can make out all that came by the camera. I plugged the camera into my MacBook and saw all the videos and photo shots even better. Yes it also had voice but no one was talking (hahaha). I am very happy with the camera. Try it you may like it too.
