Great Knife!
So I bought this at around 3 am cause I wanted to use something for self defense and I found pocket knives unreliable. I got it in the mail at 2 and opened it and I have to say it is STURDY. Great weight, handle is just perfect, and it’s a pretty lookin knife. The clip is a tight fit on a belt, but overall I have no complaints in regards to the knife.

I have read many reviews on knives the week prior to purchasing this one and I was looking for a straight blade, preferably double edged, and of good construction. While reading reviews about this product I feel that some points are in order to pay attention to (I believe this applies to all weapons)

Stowage:
You need to know proper stowage for recommended and your physical variables. While where you can clip this, mount this, and/or conceal this varies on your local laws, please check them first. The clip is nice and strong of good quality/size to mount to a molle system, pants that have the hardened / reinforced edge for say flashlight on your thigh or lower calf it fits, and also for some pants horizontally in the back belt loops. The knife also fits well on some shoulder holsters and various other storage solutions. The sheath has 2 splits at the top and the blade will sometimes want to got on the side where the clip is instead of its intended spot because the top of the sheath splits open for the clip and the other side is molded to the blade...again be familiar with your weapon. Holstering your knife you can prevent it from going into the wrong part of the sheath by keeping your index finger on the flat side of the blade as this is done, for a while I used one of those inserts shoved into the clip side from a shoulder holster as a guide to familiarize myself with stowing the knife while it is not in view...again familiarity with your weapon.

Usage:
This is a double edged blade and remember that. Forgetting that this knife is double edged while you cut things at your campsite and decide to use your hand to push down on it, is not a manufacturer/seller issue. Also it was not designed as something to pry things open and other things it was not designed for. It cuts things well, and stays sharp well. I use a rod sharpener that came with my other knives and works very well. Failure to wield/use the knife properly is not a manufacturer or seller issue.

Execution/Draw/Initialization:
Again this is a double edged knife, understand this is handled very differently than single edged knives. This knife pulls out of its scabbard easily with the thumb restraint in a very intuitive place for both vertical and horizontal draw in and out of field of view. Again familiarize yourself with how this knife is drawn and sheathed so you don't cut your yourself or clothing.

Overall extremely happy with quality, weight, size, durability, and ergonomics of this product.

This wonderfully crafted and well-balanced double-edge dagger from Smith and Wesson is a superior knife, especially for self defense purposes. The size of the knife, and the very adaptable spring clip on the sheath makes placing this knife on your person very adaptive and secure. The knife arrives with super-sharp edges, so be cautious if you have never used a double edged knife before. The beautifully tapered full tang blade terminates into a perfect spear point configuration making it especially suited for easy and effective piercing maneuvers. The grip of the knife is suited to be used in almost any type of weather or climate......it is made to afford you an amazingly sturdy slip-proof grip even if your hands were soaking wet, or covered in greasy substance. The double edge makes cutting either up and down, or side to side effortless. The handle also has a brass tube hole to attach a lanyard for even more stability and security should the situation call for such a measure. The sheath is completely made of high quality leather, with an easy to release thumb snap strap that keeps your knife securely in place regardless of your activity. The heavy duty stitching of the sheath and the internal sheath liner will assure that it lasts for many, many years of use. I suggest coating the outside of the sheath with mink oil paste and leaving it soak in for a few days....then remove easily with a micro-fiber cloth. This procedure will help to not only make your leather more resistant to the weather, but also slightly soften the leather itself for greater comfort. I have been using this knife model from Smith and Wesson for many years, and I can't think of a single time that it let me down by not being able to perform flawlessly for the intended purpose of this blade configuration. I have never had to use this knife in a self defense situation, but I have complete faith in its ability to provide me with formidable advantage in quickly and effectively defending myself or my family. The blade takes sharpening very well, and holds an edge ( actually two edges ) for a good amount of time even with moderate to heavy usage. For the price point.......quality in manufacturing.....and proven effectiveness in handling the duties of a reliable knife.........I honestly feel that the SWHRT9B is one of the best knives on the market today. Purchase one and you will see that my review of this knife is spot on!! You will never regret purchasing this knife.......I guarantee you!!!!!!
