Works OK, but not great. Needs a second IR light source. Technically 2 1/2 stars

Bought this after having a bear pull bird feeders off our deck twice in the same week - once during the day when we weren't looking. The Good: Image quality is as good as you can expect for a camera like this at this price point. During the day it's perfect. At night as long as the subject is in center view and close enough to the camera the images and video are great. And I like that it'll do both images and video since a single image isn't often enough to figure out what's there but movement is.The Bad: The description states "Up to 20M Night Vision Distance". Read that as "Up to 20M of Night Vision Distance directly in front of the camera, and remember we said 'up to' - no guarantees." What that means is that you need to make sure that the angle of the unit is such that it casts the light straight out 90 degrees to the ground, something that is not easy to do even when mounted to a square deck post since the placement of the single strap mount is above the centerline so it wants to naturally tilt downward. You can see from the 3 attached photos that slight variations can create drastic changes in what and how far you can see. A second plastic "nub" on the bottom-back of equal height to the strap mount would fix this - I use a shim that keeps falling down every time I open it up (if I wind up keeping it I'll glue it). What you can also see from the photos is that regardless of angle the LEDs do not spread light sufficiently to cover the entire area. A good 50 percent of my photos reveal nothing until I bring them into Lightroom and boost the shadows - one reason why an accompanying video is helpful because most of the time it will either move into the frame or move enough that you can spot eyes and see what you have. But for "photography" purposes it's a major disappointment.I'm going to list the rest under "potential operator error" for now. I have it set to reshoot every minute, capturing a single still image and 45 seconds of video, with the sensitivity set on High (I had a day where it captured nothing and I knew that I had walked in front of it multiple times and I always watch for the LED flashes when I turn it on to make sure it's active). The other day, during the afternoon, we had a pair of deer in the yard while the camera was on. In the 10 minutes the pair were there we got two sets of captures where I would have expected 9 or 10. I've checked the settings multiple times and I cannot understand why it does not retrigger except to say that whatever motion detection determination algorithm they use doesn't do a good job of retriggering for motion it's already detected. In other words it seems to capture only what it considers to be "new" events. For some that may be a good thing but not for me.I purchased this with a gift card I got from a return on something else and I believe that had I paid cash I would have returned it by now. Instead I'll likely pony up for an external IR lamp that will light the yard instead - provided I can figure out the retriggering thing.

Manual was clear and programming easy. Night vision is genuinely subdued, I cannot see any "crimson glow" and night images are well balanced for black and white. I have had good experience with viewing registration plates that pass through as well. Hinges are well made and latches can be worked with gloves on. Nice to be able to get the still images and a video file to get a better insight into what is happening. I change batteries once per month and have not had any low power warnings (the internal display will post notice if power is low). Very Happy with my first trail cam. I also had to ask for some help from customer service on a technical question and I had an answer in less than 3 hours that fully addressed my question. I like that you can custom id each camera via software so you can collect them all at once and know which is which.

For my purposes this game camera is just what I needed. The image quality is quite good with several choices for image resolution, video resolution, motion detect, loop recording, and other options. It has a built in LCD screen to review recordings and set the parameters. It has multiple motion detectors with two set at 45 deg angles to catch motion from the sides of the camera. No glow night vision LED illuminators. It is easy to use and program. The only thing I would recommend changing is the strap used to attach the camera to a tree or whatever - it is not very sturdy, has a thin plastic cinch buckle. Just get a heavy duty cinch strap from Tractor Supply or whatever..

I am happy with the camera so far and for the price especially..

This item works really well. The image quality and video quality are both decent and detailed enough for most uses. I had to return mine because I was using it for security and needed higher detail to read license plates and to see facial features from a decent distance. If you're going to use this as a trail cam in the woods it'll work great it has a great field of you throws IR light for a good distance it'll work for what you need it for but be warned check your settings. I had the settings maxed for images and video and it killed eight brand new batteries in a few hours which is ridiculous.

I use this around my property to watch for "guests" and inside the house to watch my pets. Works well and lasts a great long time on the AA batteries it uses. I have left it in video mode for a whole weekend without running out of space or power.

UPDATE : BY all means read my full review but since then I have put this camera through numerous tests. PROBLEM Either my unit is defective or the sensors are not very good. To prove this I placed the unit on a post 12" below another basic no frills camera that can do just 2 things, take pictures or video with no adjustments or options unlike this camera. Results after three 2 day cycles having set this unit at normal, low and high sensitivity levels ... THIS camera missed 16 out of 22 images of various animals that the other captured. Images at night, ZERO ! Other cam., numerous. The camera tripped on some of the same animals but is delayed, the animal moves and you have a blank picture. In daylight it only captures objects that are in front and slow moving and large such as people or deer. If the seller exchanges the unit I'm willing to try again -Original review: This camera is very user friendly and offers many nice feature such as LCD screen, choice of photo and video size/quality from 3, 5, 8, 12 or 16 mega pixel and video of 1080, 720 or 480. Camera can be set for 1, 2 or 3 shot burst or add video with or without. Set time delay between shots and video length.....Picture quality is outstanding similar to a DSLR camera with very true color and light. Night shots are good with typical range of 10 -40 feet, inside that and things tend to be over exposed like most units. Downside .....The 3 PIR sensors ? The side units do nothing or no more than a single center sensor so 120 degrees is exaggerated and most pictures are within approx 60 degrees by my tests. Worse is it flat out misses about 1/3rd of the shots my other camera grabs when attached to the same tree and lined up the same just 12" apart. I STILL LIKE this camera for its simplicity and outstanding camera, if they upgrade the sensors it would be the best camera on the market for the $100 and under group. So miss a few shots.

Eats batteries, and programming is a little difficult. As example, set for 30 second recordings, but at night, it may only record 5 seconds. Quality of video is good, and quality of still is good. I like the wider angle PIR as they pick up faster. So far, no water in camera but others have noted this as issue.
I will update if needed. So far, a great buy.

What a deal for the price. Picture quality is excellent in sunlight. Night vision for photos and video is good for the value of this camera. Would be 5 stars if I could use rechargeable batteries, but the manufacturer strongly recommends against it. And after a brief google search, it seems nobody recommends it. I'm using the recommended battery Energizer Ultimate Lithium. After 3 days and 1300 pics and videos the battery meter hasn't moved. I can deal with that. Only other thing is the number series for the saving of pictures. It records 1000 files then starts a new folder starting at 1. Resulting in duplicate file names. For the price and value I can also deal with that. Overall after 3 days I'm very satisfied with the camera. On second thought I'm going to give this 5 stars. For the price, the downsides are negligible. Will update if anything changes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, excellent stills and videos
Reviewed in Canada on August 5, 2019
The Camera worked Great! No glow is completely invisible in the dark. I set it up in front of the house and captured all stills and videos bright and clear. I had it set to 16 MP stills and 1080P video the motion sensor was set to lowest setting but it didn't miss a picture, though there was a few times it went off without capturing anything.
This unit (Zopu) has no sound but the no glow is more important to me, I recently purchased a different make with sound but it has "low glow" and you can definately see it in the dark. I'm not sure it would bother animals but my concern is if people notice the glow, it might just be stolen or vandalized.
This is not a top of the line camera but for the price it can't be beat!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value
Reviewed in Canada on December 18, 2019
This is my first trail camera so I can't compare. I use this on public land so I was hesitant to purchase a more expensive camera. When they went on sale at one of the big box sporting stores, the sales rep even suggested that I just purchase one online - so I bought this one. The features I wanted were no glow, waterproof, at least 12 pixels, video capture, and on board display. This product has all of my requirements. I wish it had audio but that's not an issue. It has the added feature of having being able to operate with 4 or 8 AA batteries.

The sensor is quite sensitive, it has picked up squirrels at a distance of about 15m, and myself at about 30m. The daytime pictures and video quality are quite good and surpassed my expectations. Night time video and pictures are okay, video is better and you are more likely to capture video than pictures. A heavy snowfall will occasionally trigger the sensor. I also like all the information that you receive with the images, date, time, temp, moon. So far it has withstood temps as low as -6c and a fair amount of precipitation.
So far so good, I will probably purchase another, the value seems very good to me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Batteries keep dying before 48hrs.
Reviewed in Canada on January 26, 2021
This camera takes great photos at night, has good detection. However! I'm not sure if I just got a dud but I put high quality batteries in it (and it takes lots of them) the batteries are supposed to last 8 months but when I go out to checky camera less than 48hrs after setting it up the batteries are completely dead and only a handful of photos are taken. I waited for a long time to use it and now I can't return it. This camera absolutely has to be plugged into an outlet because of this which makes it useless for its original purpose in the bush.

Has been set up and working for several months and I'm happy with it. The motion detection is pretty good and responsive. The setting options are great and allow for lots of flexibility. The image quality is OK, even at the highest settings. If using for things like security, the definition gets pixalated when zooming in for details like license plate numbers. For game and hunting application - perfectly fine!
Night shots are OK but I find the range limited, so closer up it works well.
